The Power of Solstice (Sermon by Nate Walker)
Jan 7th, 2007 by natewalker
Since its founding in 1852 the Unitarian Church of Staten Island, for the first time in its history, experienced the pews in a circle during the December 17, 2006 service. This Solstice Service was led by Consulting Minister, Nate Walker, who writes: “The power of solstice lies not simply in the astrological calculations of our position to the sun but in the metaphor of solstice: a reminder that the day may be waning but our hope continues to grows; the night may be long but the light leads on.”
